Çağatay Azaklı is Chief Financial Officer of Unerco Petrol, responsible for financing, accounting, credit/market risk management, and market research. He joined the company in 2019 on its inception year. Prior to joining Unerco, Çağatay worked at Arkas Bunkering as Risk and Finance Manager. Previously he was a Fund Manager specializing on alternative investments at İşBank and an Internal Auditor specializing on Treasury & Risk Management at Akbank.
Çağatay has a BSc degree in Business Administration from Middle East Technical University and a MSc degree in Financial Engineering from Boğaziçi University. Also he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Over the past 25 years, Mr. Chatterton has worked at the executive level across the energy, shipping, transportation, renewables and chemical sectors, where he has been responsible for creating strategy, fundraising, restructuring, crisis management and operations for both startups and multinationals.
Prior to joining MI in 2015 as COO, Mr. Chatterton was Director of Oil & Gas for a vertically integrated, leading Eastern European family office with an annual turnover of USD 5 bln and core interests in fertilizer & chemical production. In this capacity, he was chiefly responsible for strategy and management of an integrated upstream production, gas-to-power, and downstream platform to include a 550 outlet, retail petrol station network.
After launching a successful business incubator in Kazakhstan, circa 1992, Chris discovered a passion for connecting and guiding like-minded entrepreneurs. Since then, he has led several energy and agricultural organizations to successful IPOs in addition to numerous cross-border private placements in the EU, Asia, Middle East and CIS and is active in the start-up space as a mentor and founder.
Mr. Chatterton is fluent in Russian and holds an EMBA from HEC Paris.
George Cholis obtained his BSc in Maritime Studies at the University Of Piraeus, Greece, and received his MSc in Maritime Economics & Logistics (MEL) from Erasmus University of Rotterdam – RSM, Netherlands.
In 2011, he commenced his career in shipping at a ship owning company based in the Netherlands and in 2019 he joined the team of Queensway Navigation in Athens, as a chartering officer. Being employed in the tanked division in both companies, he has demonstrated activity in different sizes/markets of tankers. During this time, he has had the opportunity to secure employment for plenty of tankers on all the continents. Nevertheless, his field of expertise is in concluding commercial contracts for small size tankers predominantly trading in Europe and Africa.
Unni Einemo joined the IBIA secretariat in April 2016 as its IMO Representative, Media and Communications Manager after two years as a non-Executive board director. She was promoted to Director in order to serve as the global head of the Association in September 2018 following a unanimous decision by the board of IBIA.
Prior to joining IBIA, she worked for two decades as a journalist and analyst in the marine fuel and shipping industries in her capacity as Managing Editor for the highly regarded Bunkerworld and Sustainable Shipping specialist news services at Petromedia, and later Platts, which acquired Petromedia in July 2015. She has gained expert knowledge through engaging with industry, attending numerous maritime and energy conferences, and regularly attending IMO meetings, and has herself become a sought-after speaker at industry events.
Lloyd’s List named her as one of ‘Ten women influencing shipping in 2019’ ahead of the publication’s annual Top 100 most influential people in shipping series, and among the “Top 10 in regulation” in 2018.
Unni is a Masters Graduate from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, with a major in Contemporary Politics of the Middle East.
Cihan Ergenc, born 26.03.61, graduated university in USA, married, 2 children.

Sezgin Gürsu, after graduating from Istanbul Erkek Lisesi, completed his undergraduate study in Boğaziçi University and his master’s degree in the University of Miami in Mechanical Engineering.
Gürsu, started his professional career as a Research Assistant at the Clean Energy Research Institute, in the University of Miami in 1989, afterwards took the position of Project Engineer at Koç Holding Automotive Companies Coordination Group when he returned to Turkey in 1991.
Sezgin Gürsu joined Mobil Oil Turkey in 1992 and worked in various positions in sales and also in operations. After the merger of Exxon and Mobil in 2001, he continued his career in managerial positions in sales.
Gürsu joined the Petrol Ofisi in 2007 as the Lubricants Manager, and worked as Commercial Fuel Sales and Lubricants Director and Retail Director.
Sezgin Gürsu is continuing his career as Lubricants Director in Petrol Ofisi since 2018.
Mustafa Insel has graduated from Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Istanbul Technical University in 1984. He was awarded PhD degree by Department of Ship Science, University of Southampton in 1990.
He has worked in Istanbul Technical University as a lecturer from 1991 to 2014, during this period has participated over 8 EU FP5 and FP6 projects focusing on shipboard energy efficiency. He has chaired Turkish Loyd ship classification society between 2005 and 2011. Prof. Insel has acted as IMO auditor to classification societies for IMO Goal based standards.
He established Hidroteknik Nautical Design Technologies Ltd. as a consultancy firm specialized in maritime energy efficiency in 2011.
Prof. Insel is an advisor to Turkish Chamber of Shipping, Turkish Ship and Yacht Exporters Association, Turkish Port Operators Association and Technical and R&D Committee chairmen of Turkish Shipbuilders Association. He is part time lecturer in Maritime Energy Management Postgraduate Programme of World Maritime University.
He has over 100 journal publications and conference papers on maritime technology.
Dr. SADAN KAPTANOGLU
Şadan Kaptanoglu is a shipowner and a shipyard owner. She is chief executive officer of Kaptanoglu Shipping.
She completed her Phd in De Montfort University after she graduated from Cass Business School, MSC Shipping,Finance and Trade.
Sadan Kaptanoglu was the first woman President of BIMCO.
Sadan Kaptanoglu is the chairperson of TURMEPA. She is vice chairperson of Turkish Chamber of Shipping as well.
Sadan is the first winner of Seatrade young person of the year award in 2008.
She is married, has two daughters.
Taha Karakan joined Bunker One / PSTV Energy last October 2021. He is in charge of the physical bunker supply at Turkish Straits and in-system cargo sourcing for the group in Mediterranean region.
Prior to joining Bunker One / PSTV Energy, he worked in various positions in sales, finance and trade, with BMS United and Opet Trade Singapore having similar roles including sales & trading, supply and risk management. He is a graduate of the Jonkoping International Business School of Sweden. He resides in Greece and UAE.
Valentina is a Senior Associate in the Environment, Health & Safety team at Watson Farley & Williams, the London office. She regularly advises clients on various aspects of Net Zero, EU Green Deal, Fit for 55, EU ETS, Circular Economy and wider sustainability/climate change/decarbonisation agenda applicable to different sectors.
Valentina also has broad experience of providing stand-alone regulatory advice to international companies on environmental risk management (i.e in the fields of carbon, emissions trading, waste, chemicals, energy, water, plastics and recycling laws) and in particular on the maritime environmental compliance and ESG. On the transactional side, she has extensive experience of drafting and negotiating environmental sections of the due diligence reports. Her experience includes defending environment prosecutions and some health and safety actions.

Farid Mammadli is the Chief Finance and Investment Officer of Alkagesta, sitting in the headquarters in Malta. He overviews the performance and strategical direction of the company. Farid has 12 years of experience in finance, investment, and risk management areas mainly focusing in energy sector. He has a Master Degree in Finance from the University of Glasgow, the UK, and is currently a CFA level 3 candidate. He is also a member of the ESG and Compliance Committee of Alkagesta, leading the development of sustainability and carbon neutrality areas in the company.

In bunker industry since 1986, act always as physical bunker supplier involving every aspect of bunkering like sales, operations, cargoes, finance, terminal management, barge owning etc.. founding chairman of Turkish Bunker Association (2001) 6 times chairman for Istanbul Bunker Conference and speaker at many industry events including Sibcon, IBIA Conventions and Platts Conferences. Currently serving Turkish Chamber of Shipping as bunker committee chairman, reserve board member and assembly member. Served IBIA many times as council and board member.
After receiving BsC in Mathematics and BA in Finance, Çağatay spent more than 15 years in various positions in project financing, investment banking and Strategic Planning, most recently as Strategy and Sustainability Director at Tupras. He is responsible from long term strategic transition and business development in new investment areas including but not limited to green hydrogen and biofuels. Sustainability and carbon neutrality remains the key areas of focus during this transition period.
Özer Özbey was born on January 1st 1977 in İstanbul Turkiye. Graduating from Kadıköy Anatolian High School and Istanbul Technical University, Maritime Faculty, Marine Engineering Department respectively in Istanbul he started to work as an ocean going marine engineer in merchant ships. In 2006 He started to work for the Maritime Administration and appointed as FSO, PSCO, Coordinator of Ship Inspection Departments of Istanbul and Izmir and Harbour Master of Izmir respectively. He has finished several national and international courses related with SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM and ISPS conventions and codes in this term. At the end of 2021 he was appointed as the Head of Marine Environment and Tourism Department of General Directorate of Maritime Affairs in Ankara. He is heading the IMO MEPC, GHG, PPR meetings on behalf of General Directorate of Maritime Affairs at the moment. He’s married and have two children. He can speak English fluently. He has high interest in internet, engineering and renewable energy technologies, programming, graphic design, chess and tennis.
Mehtap Karahallı ÖZDEMİR is the Secretary-General of the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR). She graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1998 with B.Sc. Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering degree. She earned the MBA degree from Gebze Technical University in 2003 while she is working in Türk Loydu. Based on 20 years of maritime and industrial background in different positions in the Classification Society/Accredited Certification & Inspection Body and NGO including engineering and management; she gained experience on various international maritime regulations, transportation of dangerous goods, QMS requirements as an expert/auditor/trainer level. She has been involved in IMO, EU meetings for more than ten years, and she participates in IMO Member State Audits as IMO IMSAS Lead Auditor.
Nazan ÖZYÜREK works as the Head of Department at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, General Directorate of Environmental Management, Department of Marine and Coastal Management. Nazan ÖZYÜREK completed her undergraduate and graduate education at the Middle East Technical University. Nazan ÖZYÜREK has also worked as an Expert at the General Directorate of Environmental Impact Assessment, Permits and Inspections and Head of Air Management Department in the Ministry where she has been working since 2007.
Nazan ÖZYÜREK works on Emission Control Areas, marine protected areas, marine spatial planning, good environmental status in the marine environment, deep sea discharges, management of aquaculture activities, marine litter, emergency response and waste collection from ships.
Nazan ÖZYÜREK speaks English at an advanced level. She is married and has a daughter.
Alexander Prokopakis is the CEO of LNG PRO Bunkers Holdings and the architect of the probunkers project. Prior to founding probunkers, he served Mamidakis Brothers Group as a senior executive, leading all of the Group’s Shipping, Bunkering and Aviation activities, through its respective companies: JetOil, JetTank and STYGA Compania Naviera. Mr. Prokopakis has over 20 years of professional experience in commercial leadership positions, over which he has attained deep knowledge and expertise mainly in the industry of shipping and bunkering. He is a Graduate of St. John’s University with an MBA in Executive Management and holds a BSc Degree in Business Management from the State University of New York.
Cem Saral is the CEO of the Cockett Group (www.cockettgroup.com), one of the world’s leading resellers of marine and petroleum products and services and has over 20 years of industry experience on marine fuels and fuel oil trading.
During his career Cem has been employed at various key trading and management roles by leading oil trading and marine fuel oil companies. He has a wide geographical coverage and direct working experience in Europe, Asia, US, Far East and the Middle East.
Having worked extensively at both marine fuels and fuel oil trading industries, Cem has a sound understanding of the entire fuel oil supply chain and physical trading on a global basis. As a further value-add, he has had the opportunity to employ these direct trading experiences into areas of business development, management and strategic M&A activities.
Prior to joining to Cockett, Cem was last employed as a fuel oil trader by Vitol, one of the world’s leading energy and commodity trading companies (www.vitol.com) and 50% shareholder of the Cockett Group.
Cem holds a BSc degree in Operations Research from Turkish Naval Academy and throughout his career he has attended a wide range of programs on trading, risk, finance and management.
M.Hakan Tufekci is a founding partner in Tufekci Law Firm. with a specific focus on Maritime Law, Maritine Insurance and Arbitration. He has his LL.B from University of Marmara in Istanbul, LL.M from University of Wales Swansea,UK. He is a PhD candidate at Galatasaray University in Istanbul. Hakan also lectured at Maritime College of RTE University between 2013-2015.
A Turkish qualified lawyer, Hakan has over 17 years experience in all maritime and commercial related matters working for bunker companies, shipowners, charterers, brokers, insurers, agricultural traders and banks.
Hakan is a specialist in bunkering advises bunker traders/suppliers on their day-to-day operations as well as he is very active in ship arrest in Turkish jurisdiction. He has extensive experience in settlement of bunker disputes. Hakan also advises shipowners and charterers for disputes especially arising from charterparties, bills of lading.
Hakan regularly speaks at international commercial law and international maritime law events as well as providing in-house seminars to the law office’s clients. He has had numerous articles published in law journals in Turkey as well as worldwide.
Hakan is a Member of Ethics Committee at Turkish Football Federation.
Enes Tunagur joined Argus Media in 2016 and he has been Senior Marine Fuels Reporter since 2018, having previously covered electricity and natural gas markets. Enes produces daily commentaries and spot price assessments for fuel oil and marine gasoil markets as well as wider analysis pieces on supply and demand fundamentals. Prior to joining Argus Media, Enes worked at Turkey’s only financial news channel Bloomberg HT for two years.
Sinan Utlu is currently Head of Credit at Maersk Oil Trading, responsible for third party marine fuel activities, establishing credit framework, credit checks, credit analysis, credit exposure solutions and credit reporting in relation to MOT´s trading counterparts and marine fuel customers.
Prior joining Maersk Oil Trading Sinan worked six year at Monjasa Group, supporting the groups third party business in Europe, Singapore and Middle-East. He was responsible for maintaining the groups credit policy, performing credit reviews and developing the internal credit model.
Sinan Utlu joined from Euler Hermes (Allianze Group), where he conducted sector analysis and adjusted portfolios for sensitive sectors and sensitive buyers.
In 2014 Sinan Utlu was awarded by the Danish steel organization as the Steel Price Forecaster of the year.
Sinan has an MSc in Finance and Accounting from Copenhagen Business School. Alongside his academic and professional credentials, Sinan Utlu is also an avid and dedicated writer in shipping related articles and enjoys sharing his perspectives and industry know-how.
Nick is a Partner in the Planning and Regulatory Group at Watson Farley & Williams. Nick provides contentious and non-contentious environmental and health and safety (EHS) law advice across a broad range of sectors and jurisdictions, including transport, energy and pharmaceuticals.
He has particular expertise in WFW’s core sectors of energy and transport, where he advises on the EHS aspects of renewables, oil and gas and conventional power projects. In the transport sector, he focusses on identifying and mitigating risks in international compliance regimes, including ship recycling and emissions trading. He also assists clients with incident investigations and regulatory actions for a variety of EHS incidents, including fatalities.
