IBIA’s Structure and Evolution

IBIA was initially managed by volunteers, reflecting the association’s grassroots beginnings. In 1994, as the organisation developed, it appointed its first part-time administrator, David Barker.

During this early period, Robert Hough and David Peart also played important roles in supporting the association’s activities, with Hough overseeing the newsletter and Peart serving as Honorary Secretary.

As IBIA continued to grow, the association strengthened its professional structure. In 1997, Peter Goodman was appointed as its first full-time Secretary General. Following his retirement, Ian Adams became Secretary General in 2001, marking the continued development of IBIA’s dedicated management and administrative structure.
