IBIA Member Meeting: Mediterranean ECA – Compliance and Operational Impact

IBIA invites members from across the Mediterranean region to a dedicated Member Meeting focused on the designation of the Mediterranean Sea as a Sulphur Emission Control Area (ECA). Enforced as of 1 May 2025, this new regulation will require all vessels operating in the Mediterranean to use marine fuels with a maximum sulphur content of 0.1%, unless operating with approved alternative compliance methods such as scrubbers.

This meeting will offer a platform for regional stakeholders to share perspectives and highlight the operational implications of the Med ECA. The session aims to foster dialogue on challenges, best practices, and the role of industry in supporting a smooth transition.
