New Work Group to Address Ship-Barge interface

At the prompting of some association members we are trying to quantify the scale of problems experienced when connecting between a receiving ship and the supply facility (shore pipeline / barge / RTW).

The long term aim is to provide guidance to both shipping companies and fuel delivery companies on the need for a range of standard connections and the acceptance of a common standard for the testing and certification of hoses.

We will be contacting ship operators and barge operators to try to quantify the current situation and then following up through discussions with these groups and with port authorities. The data collection will not identify individual ships, companies or specific locations but will focus on the actual equipment used.
