Coming up: IBIA at SIBCON, MEPC 70, Annual Convention and Dinner
September was a very active month for IBIA’s board members and the secretariat, and looking ahead the calendar is fast filling up.
In October, we kick off with IBIA’s CEO Peter Hall leading a ‘Port Charter’ meeting in Singapore the day before SIBCON starts. Representatives from most of the world’s major bunkering ports will be present to continue work on defining and developing common ‘best practice’ frameworks for ports to oversee the bunker industry.
IBIA will be well represented at SIBCON with Peter Hall and our Singapore-based IBIA (Asia) team attending, including Regional Manager Siomon Neo. Many of our board members will also attend SIBCON, and our chairman, Robin Meech, will be speaking at this huge bunker industry conference.
Don’t forget to sign up to the IBIA in Asia Golf Day on Friday 7 October, the perfect way to round up your SIBCON networking.
In the week after SIBCON, the IBIA (Asia) branch is due to give another of its industry-leading refresher courses for bunker surveyors and bunker cargo officers, including the module on mass flow meter bunkering.
We are also gearing up to one of the most important International Maritime Organization (IMO) meetings in recent history; the 70th session of the (MEPC 70), which is expected to decide on the timing of the global cap. If you would like to discuss the pertinent issues of that meeting in more detail, please contact Unni Einemo, IBIA’s IMO Representative, on email@example.com
Shortly after MEPC 70, we look forward to our Annual Convention, where we will have the perfect opportunity to discuss the outcome of MEPC 70 and its implications.
IBIA’S ANNUAL CONVENTION AND DINNER
We do hope to see you at IBIA’s Annual Convention, taking place in Gibraltar from 7-11 November. This event will have it all: informative presentations, stimulating debate, a thriving bunkering hub right on the doorstep and super social events. And all this onboard the luxury 5* superyacht hotel Sunborn Gibraltar, offering a great location and ample networking opportunities.
It is also time to start thinking about securing your place at the IBIA Annual Dinner. Sponsorship opportunities and tables are already selling so don’t delay booking your space at this must-attend social event at the start of IP Week in London. This is the largest bunkering dinner in the world and is a unique opportunity to host and meet key people in the industry.
