Join us in Singapore for our Convention! Impact of mandatory MFMs, IMO’s 2020 sulphur regulation and more

IBIA’s Annual Convention will take place on 8-9 November in the world’s leading bunkering hub and a flagship port for progressive thinking: Singapore!  This means we will hear first-hand experiences from the port that has pioneered the mandatory use of mass flow metering systems (MFMs) for bunker supply. What has its impact been on the Singapore bunker market so far, and what does the future hold? Will Singapore’s experience with MFM drive industry transformation across the world? We will also be looking at how the tightening availability of credit is affecting the market.

IBIA is actively engaged at the IMO as the regulatory body for global shipping grapples with the question: What can we do to ensure the 0.50% sulphur limit in 2020 is successfully implemented? Hence this will also be one of the major issues to be debated at the IBIA Annual Convention. Singapore is also one of the ports working to make LNG bunkering viable, a fuel that has gained attention due to its low emissions profile, and we will be hearing about that.

IBIA’s Annual Convention is industry led and encourages plenty of interaction and lively debate. We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible as this will be a great opportunity for you to participate in shaping IBIA’s agenda and direction.  One of the sessions will be specifically about IBIA initiatives to improve our industry in cooperation with our members.

The IBIA Annual Convention will also feature two highly-professional training courses on 6 and 7 November: An Introduction to Bunker Disputes and An Introduction to LNG Bunkering.

There will be plenty of opportunities for networking at our Singapore event, starting with the welcome reception on Tuesday 7 November at the Stamford Ballroom Foyer in the Raffles City Convention Centre. Wednesday evening we will enjoy mouth-watering Asian cuisine at the Stamford Ballroom. We’ll round off the social events Thursday after the end of the conference programme.

See you in Singapore soon!
