IBIA Focuses on Seafarer Safety During Heightened Gulf Risks
In the ongoing Middle East conflict, information verification and dissemination has been a priority for shipping associations looking to support their members, leaders said at CMA Shipping, and mixed messaging is a concern at a time when clarity could prove safety critical. IBIA’s Executive Director, Alexander Prokopakis, stressed that the organisation’s primary focus is the safety and wellbeing of all seafarers amid the heightened risks in the Arabian Gulf. He emphasised that, during periods of extreme uncertainty and security threats, clear and consistent messaging is essential so crews and vessel operators can prioritise caution and avoid unnecessary danger while operating in or exiting the region.
