Commercial Management Workshop: 7 November
This half-day workshop will focus on identifying the practical management tools that ought to be understood and used by those managing bunker suppling, trading or broking companies as well as buying bunkers in today’s busy, volatile and increasingly uncertain markets. The intense course demonstrates the key factors to be considered when entering a new market, the costs elements from purchasing, transporting, storing and delivering bunkers and how to manage them. It also considers the transaction from a buyer’s and seller’s standpoint, negotiating tactics, and how to obtain the best value for money – which is not always the lowest price for a buyer or the highest for the seller. Legal: Bunker Dispute Resolution Workshop: 7 November
This highly professional interactive half-day legal workshop on bunker dispute resolution will address the causes of bunker disputes, the resolution of those disputes when they happen and the avoidance of those disputes so that they don’t happen in the first place. Led by practicing maritime lawyers, it will look at how changing economic and regulatory conditions may give rise to new disputes – whether about bunker quality, quantity, delivery or payment issues – and examine ways that such disputes may be resolved. Bunker Price Risk Management Workshop: 8 November
This half-day risk management workshop will provide attendees with an overview of hedging tools and risk management in the oil markets, with particular emphasis on introductory swaps and options used in the oil trading business. It will focus on the fundamentals of hedging using futures, options and swaps to provide delegates with a background in the marine fuels sector with a useful, basic understanding of how to discuss hedging strategy with internal management and use these tools in practice. Current examples and case studies will be used to apply ‘real world’ situations to hedging and managing both physical barrel and financial contracts risk.
