Members of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) have voted and decided which candidates, from a total of 11, should fill the three available positions in the 2023 board elections.

The election results were announced at the IBIA AGM on Monday 27 February, 2023.

IBIA would like to thank all who signalled an interest in taking a more active role in the Association by standing for election to the board.

“Yet again, we saw a large number of high calibre candidates in the IBIA board elections; a testament to IBIA’s stature and relevance,” says Unni Einemo, Director of IBIA, adding: “We are very happy to see the return of Nigel to the Board, one of IBIA’s founding members and a well of knowledge, and we look forward to welcoming Claudia and Jeroen, both of whom are actively involved in the industry and can bring valuable insights.”

The board members whose elected terms come to an end at the end of March 2023 are Peter Beekhuis of Maersk Oil Trading (New Zealand) and Mustafa Muhtaroğlu of Energy Petrol (Turkey). Jesper Rosenkrans decided to step down from the Board of IBIA in July 2022 when he left Total Marine Fuels for a new role outside the bunker industry at TotalEnergies.

IBIA extends a huge thanks to our outgoing board members for their dedication and valuable contributions to the Association during their tenure.

“I would like to express my appreciation for Mustafa Muhtaroğlu, Peter Beekhuis, and Jesper Rosenkrans for their support and dedication to IBIA during their terms as Board Members. It was a pleasure to work alongside them and we count on their continued engagement within the Association,” says IBIA Chair, Timothy Cosulich.

He adds: “I also want to congratulate our newly elected Board Members Claudia Beumer, Jeroen De Vos and Nigel Draffin. I am confident your contribution will make a difference toward achieving IBIA’s goals”
