Charlotte Nymark

Career Details

Extensive experience from the shipping industry for more than two decades, both from Operational and Commercial engagement. Charlotte spent close to 10years working from DS Norden in Copenhagen and Singapore, responsible for regional freight markets. Before joining Maersk Oil Trading in January 2021, Charlotte spent a number of years with BHP Billiton in Singapore in various commercial roles focusing on commercializing renewable freight solutions and establishment of green corridors in Australia.       

Electoral Statement

The bunker industry is facing a revolutionary transition. Maersk is pushing all boundaries and I advocate for an even stronger focus on renewable fuel solutions and infrastructure collaboration across the community to leverage our joint forces – as there is no such thing as a single winner of decarbonization.

Claudia Beumer      

Career Details

A chemical engineer by education, with a proven track record in the bunker industry.

Career started with selling and developing the Certified Bunker Measurement Solution for Emerson, focusing on shipowners and barge operators for conventional fuel and LNG.

Also I have been member of the first working group in SGMF, developing the guidelines for Quality and Quantity of LNG as fuel.

That interest in LNG got me into Wartsila, responsible for LNG Bunkering systems and bioLNG production solutions.

Currently working for the VT Group, having the commercial responsibility for our global accounts, safeguarding the quality standards of VT towards our customers and expanding our areas of operation.

Additionally, I am in the lead for making VT future proof on alternative fuels; for our own use and for facilitating the bunkering of alternative fuels for our customers.

During my career I have established a large network across all layers in the bunker industry. With my experience in alternative fuels and my ability to build bridges, I can relate to and represent the needs of a diverse group of IBIA members, while increasing the visibility of IBIA

Jeroen De Vos

Career Details

Having graduated in 1991 from the Naval College in Rotterdam, Jeroen began his career in the maritime industry as a marine engineer where he gained valuable seagoing experience from various companies including the Royal Dutch Navy. 

He joined DNVPS in 2000 as a Technical Advisor and wore many hats over the next decade and a half. In 2015 Jeroen became Global Technical Director at VPS when he moved to Peninsula in 2019 to build and head up the dedicated Quality Department.

Today, as Head of Quality he is charged with overseeing all quality related matters. He has a deep level of understanding and knowledge of the current fuels landscape and will be integral in translating the future fuels landscape.

He is an active member of several international working groups including both IBIA Technical and Future Fuels Working Group but also the ISO 8217 (TC28/SC4/WG6) Working Group.

Electoral Statement

As the alternative fuels landscape evolves, Peninsula is at the forefront of this transition. Our goal is to shape the future of the industry. Synonymous with quality and the largest independent bunker supplier in the world, we are in a very strong position to be able to help drive this change.

John Kevin Phillips

Career Details

A long-time active IBIA member and presenter at IBIA and other industry events. Initially working in port agency and tanker operations for Rowbotham Tankships, he later managed ship agency offices and operations for Graypen, Haven Marine Services and Furness Marine Services in South Wales, and Athens, and Kanoo in Saudi Arabia.  His skill sets beyond this included on/off hire surveys, ship vetting, S&P, dry bulk and liner trades. After postgraduate studies at the University of Plymouth, John specialised in marine and bunker credit management. He managed teams for MRC/Lloyd’s List Intelligence, Ocean Intelligence (OI) and headed notable global bunker credit teams for physical suppliers & B2B traders. John has developed new ideas for bunker credit management, developed bunker credit policies and worked with teams rebuilding his original bunker credit model for universal usage, and introduced a number of key bunker market players to the excess of loss credit insurance concept.

Electoral Statement

Bunkers is undergoing rapid change both in terms of what is marine fuel and how supply is financed and managed. Now, more than ever broad thought processes are needed, especially with regard to the relationship between Credit and Compliance. A varied shipping background gives me wide knowledge to drawn upon.

Kelvin Chukwujekwu    

Career Details

I am an active member of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) and the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology (IMarEST) from Nigeria, with specialty in maritime energy management. I have completed the IMarEST program and report, and await to be inducted as a Chartered Marine Technologist (CMarTech)

At the instance of the IMarEST, I undertook research titled: “Effective Marine Fuels Delivery in Nigeria: Prospects and Constraints”. The results highlighted the potentials of marine fuel trade and the problems hindering the same. Solutions were proffered, top of which was proper regulatory framework for conducive bunkering environment that attracts effective marine fuel trading and investment.

I hold postgraduate degrees from World Maritime University, Sweden (Maritime Energy) and University of Plymouth, UK (MSc, Sustainable Maritime Operations)

As a bunker supplier and trader in West Africa, I take it as my duty to ensure compliance with the IMO regulations on marine fuels.

Electoral Statement

As decarbonization of shipping gears up, if elected as a board member, I shall focus my efforts in bringing awareness to locations that are lagging, especially West Africa.

And I pledge to commit to the IBIA ethics, and work for the overall good of the association.

Kenneth Dam     

 Career Details

Kenneth Dam joined Trafigura’s fuel oil team in 2017 and in May 2019 became Co-Head of its newly formed bunkering team. In 2020, Kenneth was appointed Global Head of Bunkering for TFG Marine, a joint venture created between Trafigura and ship owning companies Frontline and Golden Ocean to supply quality marine fuels to ship owners at global strategic bunkering hubs.

Before joining Trafigura, from 2011 to 2016, Kenneth worked for Monjasa and played a key role in developing its West Africa bunkering operations. Before entering the marine fuel supply and shipping industry, Kenneth was a financial advisor for leading Danish financial services company Nykredit.

TFG Marine is a leading international  marine fuel supply and procurement  joint venture between physical commodity trading company Trafigura Group Pte and ship owning companies Frontline Ltd and Golden Ocean Group Ltd. Formed in 2020, the company  provides modern, simplified and transparent services that bridge every stage of the bunkering process for its customers, supplying over 10 million metric tonnes of marine fuels per annum across 35 strategic bunkering hub locations globally.

As an IBIA Board Member, I would bring my 12-plus years of industry experience, energy and enthusiasm, combined with TFG Marine and its partners’ expertise and global networks, to engage with, and bring all relevant stakeholders together to address the many challenges that face our industry today.

Kenneth Juhls  

 Career Details

Kenneth Juhls has been working within the shipping, bunker trading and risk management space for 20+ years. He brings a wealth of knowledge surrounding the challenges and opportunities facing shipping companies, operators and traders. He graduated from Copenhagen Business School with a diploma in Finance and Risk Management; besides this he is a certified Financial Risk Manager and has attended leadership programmes at Insead. Before joining ZeroNorth, Kenneth served as Head of Risk Management with Maersk Oil Trading before moving over to Maersk Tankers, where he was ultimately employed as Chief Risk &  Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer. Currently, through his position as Managing Director of ZeroNorth Bunker at ZeroNorth, Kenneth works tirelessly to promote the digitalisation of the bunkering process, help customers optimise the planning and procurement processes, increase collaboration and transparency between otherwise siloed stakeholders, and support shipping companies on their decarbonisation journey.

Electoral Statement

The bunkering industry is facing challenges effected by price volatility, looming regulation, and influx of new fuels. The imperative to digitalise and accelerate transparency has never been greater. As an IBIA Board member, I’d be honoured to advance the digitalisation and decarbonisation agendas, which benefit the entire marine value chain.

Mustafa Muhtaroglu

 Career Details

Mustafa MUHTAROĞLU

Born in ISTANBUL TURKEY in 1962.

Studied economics at İstanbul University Faculty of Economics, graduated with master and PhD degree.

In bunker industry since 1986,  always acting as a physical bunker supplier.

Expert on every aspect of bunker business including sales operations finance, barges, cargoes,  storages etc..

Served Turkish Chamber of Shipping several times as Assembly Member, Reserved Board Member and Bunker Committee Chairman.

Served IBIA several times as Board Member .

Has been chairman and speaker for many conferences including IBIA convention and Platts events.

Nigel Alexander Draffin

Career Details

Nigel Draffin has been in shipping for 50 years. He joined Shell Tankers as a marine engineer in 1966 serving on all classes of vessels including VLCCs and LNG tankers before joining the newbuilding department of Shell in 1979. working in newbuilding and research. He was the Shell fleet bunker purchaser for 10 years

In 1996 he joined a bunker brokers dealing with suppliers, sellers and buyers worldwide, retiring in 2015 to concentrate on consulting and training especially with bunkering issues.

A founder member of IBIA, serving on its board and on its working groups. He is course director for Petrospot courses, a member of the IMarEST, Past IBIA charman and Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Fuellers.

He is a Supporting Member of the LMAA and lectures frequently on Bunkering and Shipping issues for IBIA and other training providers

Nigel has written twelve books on bunkering and one on shipping.

Electoral Statement

I have been involved with the association since its inception, serving on the council, the board and in working groups. I can offer knowledge, experience and a deep understanding of most sectors of our industry. I continue to wish to assist in the training and education.

Thuso Dumisani Mpho Mhlambi

Career Details

I am an MBA graduate and bring a fresh lens and perspective to shipping matters.

I have been involved in driving the growth of the South African maritime industry through stakeholder engagements with government.

My passion for shipping started in 2012 when we started Linsen Nambi Shipbroking which we grew and now own bunker tankers through Linsen Nambi Bunker Services.

Electoral Statement

I am a shareholder and CFO of Linsen Nambi Bunker Services, South Africa’s first 100% black owned shipping company. With ESG continuing to be an ever-present force, should I be elected on the board of IBIA I will focus on driving diversity and inclusion within the global bunker industry.
