IBIA and GCMD reaffirm commitment to collaborative decarbonisation efforts
During a recent visit to Singapore, IBIA Chair, Adrian Tolson, together with Vice Chair Jeroen de Vos and Executive Director Alexander Prokopakis, met with Professor Lynn Loo, CEO of the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD). They were joined by Siti Noraini Zaini, IBIA Regional Manager (Asia).
The meeting marked the renewal of the longstanding partnership between IBIA and GCMD, reaffirming their shared commitment to accelerating the transition toward a more sustainable maritime industry. Through this continued collaboration, both organisations aim to deepen research, exchange expertise, and support the development of practical, scalable solutions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the sector.
Working together, IBIA and GCMD will focus on identifying viable alternative fuels, enhancing fuel standards, and addressing the operational and regulatory challenges that impact decarbonisation efforts. The partnership also highlights the importance of industry-wide cooperation, bringing together stakeholders across the maritime value chain to ensure solutions are not only environmentally effective but also commercially and operationally viable.
IBIA remains actively engaged in global initiatives to promote sustainable maritime practices, and meetings like this play a vital role in advancing its mission.
