Goodbyes and hellos: A fond farewell to Capt. Peter Hall and board members, welcome to the new

The end of March sees Capt. Peter Hall officially retire from the International Bunker Industry Association after a handover period to our new Chief Executive, Justin Murphy, and two board members will step down.

Hall served IBIA with tremendous energy and enthusiasm during his nearly four years as Chief Executive, and all his colleagues and the board are grateful for all the splendid work he has undertaken for IBIA. We wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his ongoing support for IBIA since announcing his intention to retire in November last year.

We also wish a fond farewell to two of IBIA’s board members, John Stirling of World Fuel Services, and Steve Simms of Simms Showers LLP. Their contributions have been very much appreciated, and we are happy that both will be able to continue their involvement with IBIA’s working groups, with Stirling as Chair of the technical working group and Simms as Chair of the legal working group.

There were three new board positions up for election this year; we are pleased that Lim Teck Cheng of Hong Lam Marine has been re-elected for his second term, and welcome two new board members who will begin their three-year term on April 1, 2017. They are Martin Laue Brodersen from the Danish shipping company Torm, and Dilip Mody of India-based bunkering firm Global Fuels & Lubricants, who returns to the board after a one-year break. We look forward to their input.

We are also delighted that the maritime arbitrator Trevor Harrison, a long-standing IBIA board member who has also served as part-time Chief Executive for IBIA in the past, has agreed to act as company secretary for IBIA.
