Future maritime professionals visit IBIA during London excursion

An excursion from the Centre of Maritime Studies in Bremen during their to visit to IBIA

A group of students and a professor from the Centre of Maritime Studies at Hochschule Bremen, City University of Applied Sciences, paid a visit to IBIA in November in connection with an excursion to “Maritime London”.

The students were in London to visit the International Maritime Organization and a number of the organisations that are active at IMO.

IBIA had the pleasure of hosting them at our premises in London’s Liverpool Street on the morning of Friday 24 November. Our CEO Justin Murphy did a short presentation on IBIA’s role and activities, while IBIA’s IMO Representative Unni Einemo did a short presentation explaining some bunker market basics.

We encouraged the students to ask questions, and we could have talked with them for much longer as they had plenty!

Industry education is one of IBIA’s key objectives so it was great to meet future maritime professionals. They seemed like bright young people, which bodes well for the future.

The excursion from the university in Germany to visit IMO and various maritime organisations in London was organised by Capt. Assoc. Prof. Willi Wittig at Hochschule Bremen.

He said the students were thankful to all “who kindly offered their time and expertise to make this excursion so successful”.
