Welcome to the second ‘new – look’ IBIA newsletter…

This last month has certainly been a busy one, with the IBIA AGM and Board meeting, new appointments to our Board, the results of the IBIA Member Survey, Port Charter meeting and of course the biggest industry social event of the year…. the IBIA Annual Dinner.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us at the Grosvenor House Hotel at the beginning of February, it was a fabulous evening and certainly worth ‘Going back to the Future’ for.  This is a great venue for so many of us to be able to meet – over 1100 of us! and we spent a most enjoyable evening making new contacts and spending time with old industry friends.

As you read on through the newsletter you will see that we have some new Board Members. Our thanks go to those who have stood down, for their much valued contribution over the years, particularly their time, expertise and support.

I would also like to thank all of our members who completed our survey, your comments and feedback are very valuable as we look to set our strategy for the next three years.

There were some very interesting points. Over three quarters of the respondents expressed an interest in getting involved with a working group –  something we are keen to take forward with our new working group structure.

And most compelling, 94 per cent of respondents believe that the subject of ‘ethics’ need to be addressed urgently, whether that’s adhering to professional business standards, establishing industry best practice guidelines, promoting professionalism and bespoke industry qualifications, or encouraging the industry to embrace corporate social responsibility.

The time has come for the bunker industry to take a very significant step forward and up.

It’s going to be exciting and no doubt challenging, but watch this space to hear more and to discover how you can get involved.
