Voices from the Industry: IBIA and ITF highlight seafarer safety in the Middle East
Seafarers are the unsung heroes, the backbone of shipping. They keep global trade moving. Last week, IBIA Executive Director Alexander Prokopakis participated in an interview with the BBC World Service alongside Jacqueline Smith, Maritime Coordinator at the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF). Interviewed by Rahul Tandon, they shared their perspectives on the current geopolitical situation in the Middle East, highlighting its impact on seafarers stranded in the region, with a particular focus on their safety, concerns, and the risks and challenges they face.
