IMO & IMO News

As a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) IBIA has permanent seat at the IMO (International Maritime Organisation) and representation at each of the major sessions throughout the maritime year.

As well as taking part in IMO working groups, the association has ensured that the interests of the bunker industry are heard through interventions from the floor, written submissions and participation in working groups.

We continuously scrutinise IMO proceedings on all matters affecting our members.

IBIA keeps a watching brief on all IMO issues, but the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and Marine Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) are of particular relevance to the bunkering industry. Subordinate to these committees are a number of sub-committees, including PPR (Pollution Prevention and Response) and CCC (Carriage of Cargoes and Containers)

All of these are attended by IBIA and reports prepared and circulated by the Secretariat.
