Future Fuels: What are the alternatives?

The IMO has set 2030 and 2050 targets for reducing the carbon intensity of international shipping, and a minimum 50% reduction in GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions by 2050. Shipowners need future fuel options. What are the alternatives in the near to medium term, and how can the bunker industry adapt and be part of the transition toward low and zero carbon fuels?

Time: Thursday 18 March, 12:30 (noon) GMT for approximately 90 minutes

Flash point – further regulations coming

The IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 103) will be discussing further regulations to safeguard ships from receiving bunker fuels that fail to meet the minimum flash point limit of 60⁰C in SOLAS. The onus is on bunker suppliers to deliver compliant fuel.

Members Meeting: How will our sector be impacted by Fuel EU Maritime, EU ETS and bunker tax proposals? 21st September, 2021

12:30

How will our sector be impacted by Fuel EU Maritime, EU ETS and bunker tax proposals?

IBIA has studied the European Commission’s “Fit for 55” package of proposals in a bid to understand the various aspects and the impact they may have on the marine fuels sector, not just in Europe, but globally. We created a compact yet comprehensive information document for IBIA’s members summarising the key elements. In doing so, we have highlighted a number of potential consequences and concerns.

We would like to open discussions about the “Fit for 55” proposals with our membership to hear your views.

A summary of the EU proposals impacting our sector, with a link to the more comprehensive information document for IBIA’s members, is available on this link.

Time: Tuesday, 21 September, 13:30 BST for approximately 75 minutes
