IBIA Bunker Training Course

Training description:

The IBIA Bunker Training Course is a comprehensive one-day program designed to impart critical knowledge about the bunkering industry. The morning segment, ideal for newcomers or senior management, will focus on the fundamentals of bunkering, discussing practical, commercial, and operational aspects, technical issues, and current regulations, primarily pertaining to traditional marine fuels.

The afternoon portion will shift its attention to the potential impacts and implications of alternative fuels. The content will prioritize those alternative fuels that are expected to have significant relevance to Africa, considering factors like availability, storage and delivery adaptation ease, and specific requirements relating to storage, delivery procedures, and economic considerations.

Upon completing the course, attendees will be awarded the ‘IBIA Certificate of Attendance.’

Esteemed industry expert and IBIA board member Nigel Draffin, who has authored 12 books on bunkering, leads this comprehensive course.

Course Outline:

Module 1: Basic bunkering: Overview of Bunkering
Module 2: Commercial: How the deal is done
Module 3: Technical: All about using conventional fuels
Module 4: Operations: Bunkering operational procedures
Module 5: Regulations: The rules and regulations
Module 6: Alternative fuels why? What is driving the change
Module 7: Fuel details: What new fuels are here now and what is coming
Module 8: Production and distribution: How they made and transported
Module 9: The economics: The cost implications for capital cost and operating costs

Each module will be accompanied by relevant case studies and interactive sessions to facilitate practical understanding of the concepts. The course will conclude with a comprehensive assessment to gauge the participants’ understanding of the course content.

The objective of this course is to equip participants with a deep understanding of the bunkering industry, from basic operations to complex commercial negotiations and regulatory compliance, and to enable them to make informed decisions in the rapidly evolving fuel landscape.
