IBIA in Asia launches membership with training courses

IBIA in Asia is trialling a new grade of membership that includes tailored training for the employees of a new member company. One such new member is Sentek Marine & Trading Pte Ltd, the third biggest bunker fuel supplier in Singapore, which recently joined IBIA and will be sending 60 of its marine officers and 10 office staffs to complete IBIA bunker training courses.

IBIA in Asia is also exploring ways to work with ship operators to deliver bespoke training to their crewing teams. SGS Testing & Control Services Singapore Pte Ltd, a leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company has signed up 19 surveyors for bunker courses and the intention is to ensure that many more of the company’s employees complete the training courses.

Peter Hall, CEO, IBIA says that while this grade of IBIA membership has been launched and is being trialled in Singapore, there is no reason why it shouldn’t be rolled out around the world, wherever there was sufficient interest in doing so.
