Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Eugenia attended Marymount College of Virginia, USA and the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She also earned a post-graduate degree in International Business Management -Universidad Javeriana, Bogota, Colombia and one in Maritime Transportation and Port Legislation in Pronaval, Barranquilla, Colombia
Besides her native language Spanish, she also speaks English and French fluently.
Since 1984, Eugenia has worked with Colombian downstream oil company Organización Terpel S.A. At Terpel, she has held various positions, such as sales assistant, marketing director, operations, sales and commercial manager. For the past eight years, she has worked solely in the marine business. Currently, she is the Director of Marine Fuels for Colombia. Prior to the merger between Terpel del Norte S.A. and Organización Terpel S.A., she was the company’s legal representative (August 1993 to September 2003).
Eugenia has been an active member of various professional and community organizations. She has been appointed to the board of directors for various organizations including :ABSA.S.A. Barranquilla International Air Port S.A., March 2003 –Present; ACSA Aeropuerto del Caribe S.A March 2003-Present ; Actuar Famiempresas 1998 –Present;Marymount Alumni Association- Present; Marymount School Parents Association- From August 1998-June 2012; Gran Central de Abastos de Barranquilla S.A-Gran Abastos S.A (Barranquilla’s market place for agricultural commodities) March 2009 –Present; SACSA S.A.- Cartagena airport- March 2002-March 2007; Promigas Telecomunicaciones S.A:Promitel S.A. 2000-2001;Transoccidente S.A. 2001-2002
Since April 2011 she belongs to the IBIA board of directors.
Eugenia has also been a speaker at the Bunker New Orleans Conference in October 2000, Maritime week Americas Miami 2010, Maritime week Americas Cartagena 2011 and a panelist at the Miami Maritime week Americas in June 2009. She conducted the IBIA Basic Bunker Course in Panama at MWA 2012.
