Dinner tickets going fast as IBIA looks ahead to eventful year

As we come to the end of January, 2017 is shaping up to be an eventful year for IBIA and its members. First of all, we are looking forward to hosting the biggest social bunker industry event of the year, the prestigious Annual Dinner for IBIA members.

This year, we are back at the elegant Grosvenor Hotel in Mayfair, London, where we will ensure that around 1,000 guest and VIPs open IP Week in style.

Tickers are selling fast so please act now if you want to secure your place. Ticket prices have been held at the same rate as last year: £145.00 per individual, £1495 for a table of 10 and £1740 for a table of 12 (All prices are excluding VAT). Please note that only corporate members can book a table; individual members can book up three tickets. For details and bookings, please visit https://ibia.net/event/ibia-annual-dinner-2017/

IBIA will partner with a number of industry events hosted around the globe throughout the year; in fact we have already started.

The Middle East Bunker Convention, which was hosted in Dubai in January, saw IBIA represented by several of our Board members; Robin Meech (Chairman), Nigel Draffin, Michael Green, Steve Simms and Bob Sanguinetti were all speakers. Commodore Bob Sanguinetti, CEO and Captain of the Port of Gibraltar, delivered a presentation on ‘Creating an Ideal Bunker Hub’, a theme we saw our Chief Executive Peter Hall talk about during the IBIA Annual Convention in the Port of Gibraltar in November last year.

IBIA also delivered training in connection with the Dubai event, namely a one-day Mass Flow Metering Workshop looking at all the elements of this technology from the perspective of experiences n Singapore and elsewhere. The workshop’s aim is to cover the experience of MFM from all angles, including installation and use on barges, system integrity, the potential for digitisation, and the standard operating procedure (SOP) for surveyors when attending MFM deliveries, which has been developed by IBIA for Singapore with a view to wider use as MFM technology spreads to more ports.

Speaking of training, IBIA will host a similar workshop on Mass Flow Metering for ship owners and buyers at our London office on 22 February, in conjunction with IP week and looking ahead to March, IBIA will be running the Mass Flow Metering Workshop in Panama as part of the Panama Maritime XIII World Conference and Exhibition running from March 12-15, where we will also have a bunker session in the conference programme.

We have plenty of other plans for IBIA events and joint events which we will keep you informed about closer to the time, but if you want to plan ahead check our website for announcements and updates: https://ibia.net/events/

The Singapore office will be running a host of courses throughout the year, which include Refresher Course for Bunker Surveyors, Enhanced Bunkering Course, Mass Flow Meeting Workshops and the IBIA Basic Bunkering course. To see available dates, check this page: https://ibia.net/training/
